[ The Wisdom of Chann ]

"To the world I give a gift of thoughts." Sotear Chann

"We are ever cast aloft by the prevailing winds of emotion, passion, and feeling. That which is, in rare moments, a blessing, is a curse to the mind and a harbinger of the afflictions thereof. Reason cannot be borne from a mind afflicted by excess emotion, for Reason makes its home amidst the peace of a sound mind. Reason, as fragile as she is, finds her resting place in the midst of serenity. She flourishes when she is free to roam as she sees fit and to take flight whenever she is beckoned by the limitlessness of the sky and the eternal unknown that lies just beyond. Anger, sadness, vengeance, jealousy… such excess emotion drives her from the minds of those who succumb to such afflictions and to such depravity. She is cast aside as if she were but a mistress. She is driven out for she dares speak against the monstrosities that incessantly blight the Human mind."

Vithu Chann, On Reason

"It is good to forgive, yes, but at the same time it is good to stand firm. Otherwise, the act of forgiveness is wasted."

Vithu Chann

"Justice, being concerned primarily with balance, warrants such actions that seek to restore equity and fundamental fairness in accordance with the rule of law."

Vithu Chann

"There is no greater sign of strength than to embrace and acknowledge one’s own weakness. In doing so, you both embrace and acknowledge where you can become strong."

Vithu Chann

"Reason is neither arrogant nor boastful, but is rather wielded by one of a calm and peaceful disposition."

Vithu Chann

"I bury myself in books and studying so as to forget that I am a hopeless romantic, in that I am an idealist who has such a perfectionist’s view of love, that it is near impossible for me to ever find anything close to that ideal."

Sotear Chann

"Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you."

Thomas Jefferson

"If you live and act like a victim, then you have already conceded to defeat and despair. Happiness, on the contrary, does not come about by being the victim, but by using the circumstance in order to rise the victor."

Sotear Chann

Random Thoughts

That which, on the surface, appears to be simple, can often times prove to be quite the opposite in terms of its inherent complexity. This is often true, given the tendency of humanity to err in our reasoning and in our rush to judgment. We are creatures of immediacy in that we lust for the quick and easy answer which we think best fits our immediate circumstance.

No greater manifestation of simplicity’s inherent profoundness can be found than in a child. With innocence of mind and action, we as children approached the world with a curiosity and eagerness that we begin to lack as we gain in life experiences. The world was once uncomplicated and unburdened by the cares of this world. We experienced momentary bliss, if not eternity itself, when we lived life through the carefree lens of childhood.

We were once able to, with but simple and childish words, to express the depth of life. We spoke of love unhindered and unburdened by pain. We spoke of life unburdened by the pressures imposed upon us by society. We once laughed without needing a reason to do so, but were rather filled and driven to it by the simple living of profound life.

We were once innocent, but now live defiled by the pressures of society and the experiences of life.

"Power is best wielded in the hands of one who would rather not wield it. For they that do not pursue it and do not wish it upon themselves are those less likely to be corrupted by it."
